well, i have spent most of today inbed feeling sorry for myself, as one does when one is ill, but praise God, i spent some wondeful and very needed time with the Lord as well!
he is so gracious. Some of my time was spent meditating on scripture and it occurred to me that jesus was nearly killed by the mob or pharisees twice (at least) before he submitted to the Cross. so when he says to ‘turn the other cheek’ he does not mean, ‘just let people smack u around’ but he means to use wisdom when attacked, be close to the Father, know when ur time to submit to injustice has come. he certainly says ‘ do not strike back’ that’s for sure, because he fled and hid in the two situations i read about today. he didn’t try to prove himself to anyone and didn’t think it shameful to turn and run so that his Ministry wouldn’t be prevented from achieving it’s purpose. interesting, i thought. goodnight.

So i am taking 2 weeks off.. From triathlon training that is - not work. I was talking with Harriet last night about our “uncommon” lifestyle. Instead of coming home at 5 or 6pm, we find ourselves coming home at 8 or 11pm. This means that we do not get the ‘unwind time’ before dinner. We don’t get to come home and talk with each other as we would like to. We just dont have the flexibility we would like. Usually, by the time we get home, we must jump directly into preparing dinner. I know this affects other areas of our life as well. I think if we look at our schedule compared to the rest of the world, we are still living in luxury, and perhaps I need to keep measuring myself to others in less fortunate situations. Personally, I believe our crazy schedule is a sacrifice we make in order to be effective in the environment in which we live at the moment.
The unfortunate thing is that holidays just don’t cut it. **We have more holidays than most… but you spend almost the entire holiday recovering, just to be functional by the time you return. Its not really the intensity of the work, its the emotional strain, and the hours. If anyone has been in our position, or has any suggestions, please comment!
