Getting into the groove

Because I am the one doing the updating of this site (albeit seldomly, i agree) I am going to write about ME. I have decided that Harriet will have to write about herself and about us in general!

OK – back to the important stuff! I have been getting back into running. I have been beating around the half-marathon bush for [really] over two years now, and nothing has come of it. In fact, i havent even tried to run a half yet… and somehow… I keep saying.. i gotta do a half. SO today, out of nowhere, I headed out, with no desire to even BE outside – this was a day where I just wanted to get the miles in – AND BUSTED OUT A HALF!!! (that means I ran 13.1 miles) How exciting. This was my route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=490215

I stopped four times for directions and once to have a chat with a friend at the 12k mark. I figure I spent a total of 15mns asking for directions and saying hello to my friend in Coppet. Left: 9:40am.
Returned: 11:30am.
Total time: 1h50mns.
Total time trying to find my way: 5mns.
Total time talking with friend: 10mns.
Total time running 13.1 miles (at convo. pace): 1h35mns.
Pace: 4:30mns per km or 7:15mns per mile

This was huge for me. I honestly never thought I would get to it. I am happy. A happy chappy. Running is DEFINITELY a groove I am getting into.
My short term goal: 1:24:59 for a half marathon. (by when? March.)
My medium term goal: 1:19:59 for a half marathon. (by when? No idea, but I am getting impatient.) I am guessing it would take a good year or so of consistent training/weights and died mod. to get there… let’s say… next October’s Lausanne Half. That’s a good idea.
My long term goal: Ironman finish AND sub 11 hours. Doable? yes. Time frame? I’m thinking 3 years minimum. Check back later *much later* for an update on this one.

Running … getting into the groove.

You might have noticed that LABELME.org has a new face. If you haven’t noticed, then go there now.

Have you gone yet?

Good.

So LABELME is off. We are definitely pumped that things are off and running. It’s been a very ‘curious’ experience, starting a charity. I used to feel that if I wasn’t constantly busy doing something, that I wasn’t working hard enough. Starting something – running something, turns the tables a bit. Often, I am not ‘doing something’. But now, I am always – 24/7 – sometimes more – in the groove. Starting something means no vacation, no 9-5. nope. none. It’s always on your mind. It floods everything, its in everything you are thinking, saying to others, and everything you do and create. My running is perhaps the only time that I am not connected with LABELME.
Lots of projects happening; the first one is LABELME Education.
Current snapshot: a tutoring brokerage;
Beta testing: tutoring partnerships with local educational agencies. Toying with developing a special needs program for anglophone students ages 3 and up. (Big ideas… yes. Doable? yes!) (thank you Nicole)

With LABELME, I am getting into the groove. Actually, I am in the groove. That groove is awesome.

CHU’CH. Definitely in the groove. I am lovin’ church. We decided to get involved with www.icf-ge.ch. It’s .. well, its fun. It’s fresh. It’s a great place or us at the moment, and I see much happening in the future. (Watch this space)

In the groove. yes!

Life? If you are interested in how the Kibbe family is doing, (I’ll give you a  sneak peak – it’s going well) you’ll have to wait for Harriet to blog.

Oh, and one more thing – I have gotten into downloading entire Bulls games from the 80’s and 90’s – Watching Jordan is a heavy experience. Can’t beat it. If you are in the area, hit me up so we can watch a game together! Lots of love.
