Dan, Rob and Jenn came to see us from London this past weekend. We had a great time skiing, and catching up. It really felt like we had just seen each other yesterday! As always with these meetings, there was not enough time to see each other!! Could definitely have done with an extra day or two with them. What a great family we have in them! Mekki and Latana also came by twice. Apparently JR is getting much better in his carving and still flies at maniac speeds.
We are fired up as we fly through January. Tonnes of people are coming through our house; we have friends staying tonight, then for four days next week, then the following weekend as well. The ICF Geneva office being in our house has also been a huge amount of fun. I love welcoming collaborators in the mission into my place. Everyone feeds off of everyone else and my hope is that it will become a pressure cooker of sorts, where the best in people comes out, where we can creatively and radically pray, program and execute for Christ.
Want to send two links out which I’ve been watching recently:
First, “The Basement” out of Birmingham Alabama. The city has exploded with over 5k youth coming together to give Jesus praise every week. This group started 6 months ago.
Check this out.
The second vid is a HEAVY talk by entrepreneur and CV, Guy Kawasaki on his book The Art of the Start.
Well, we have flown through the first week of 2008 without noticing it!
“New” is how I would characterize our lives. everything is new around here recently… and I don’t suspect that will change!
We have our first tenant in our house, a great guy named Salvatore, an Italian mafioso-looking guy turned passionate Christ follower. What a character. Sicilian with a passion for wine, fast cars and making money. I love him!
My office has been turned into a temp office for ICF Geneva after the heating was shut off. To make a VERY long story short, some ppl didn’t like us working in the office we were given, and took it upon themselves to shut the heating off. During winter, this poses a problem! So until things warm up, ICF offices are chez KIBBE!
Harriet is BIG and gorgeous. OK, the first 20 odd weeks were alright, but now she is really starting to balloon. The reality of parenthood is looming and i find myself reading a lot more about parenting, talking a lot more about parenting and praying a lot more about parenting! I think we have 18 weeks to go……… definitely a new thing.
The reality of living in and paying rent on a villa is definitely a new thing.
Have also been asked to “officially” be a pastor on staff with ICF Geneva. Definitely new and exciting. (I will, like Paul did 2000 yrs ago, be in full time ministry while running my own business to financially support myself and family!) That’s new for me!
SO much new. SO much excitement.
I am looking forward to this year. Photos of new years eve with ICF up in the mountains (Nax) soon.
