Harriet’s belly

The belly continues to grow every day, and in my opinion, our kid cannot be comfortable in there. His head is down which is a v good thing, but all he can seem to do is rotate from his back to his stomach. Yes, it must be extremely boring. I’m happy that Harriet talks to him frequently. We took some photos of Harriet in our garden which I will add soon. The time approaches…. quickly! We are so excited.

A 4 minute post for easter

I’ll let the guy in the video do the talking.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Romans 5:6-10

I’m home! … unfortunately …

So this is the first time in a loooong time since I have written anything on our blog, despite Stuart’s numerous attempts at getting me interested. The only reason why I am writing is that I have now officially run out of excuses, the main one being that i don’t have any time… well, I have time now.
Since Monday’s trip to the doctor I am pretty much bed-ridden, as she says I can no longer go to work, take baths, or do any housework… needless to say I was in shock and am still trying to figure out what I am going to do for the next 5 weeks, or less, depending on baby’s arrival.
My first job is to put our accounts in order and I have realised that this is going to be a full-time job in itself! But getting the baby’s room together and tidy and making sure we have all we need is next on my to do list, and is proving to be much more fun, unsurprisingly enough :)
I’m excited that I am getting to do all the things I have never done, go into town during working hours on a week day (I am amazed at the amount of people in town at 3 pm … don’t all these people WORK? Where DO they come from?), sit and read a book under our blossoming Magnolia tree, have coffee in the sun in the morning … :) Yes, I am making the most of it while I can!

Baby is certainly making his presence known, not only in terms of belly size, but also in terms of strength - his moving around can be agony sometimes, but I prefer feeling him move than not!

Stuart is being the perfect husband and I am so grateful to him!! Yesterday we had to go food shopping and it was hillarious watching him balance 12 ltrs of milk in one arm and 6 or 7 bags full all hanging from the other arm, while I carried… the eggs. I felt terrible! I am now learning more and more about God’s plan and purpose for men ;)

Anyway, I hope to put up some more recent photos of belly and mom and dad shortly, as soon as I figure out how to do that!

2008 Geneva car show

Dave and I just got back from the Geneva car show. For my 28th (see below), we decided to go and purchase a Merc. I opted for the new GL. I LOVE it. Here are some pics I took. Pops, we got a few shots of your Morgan, and of course, my future Maybach S57. Check out some of my favorite photos which Dave took.

Codecs

According to Wikipedia, a codec is a program capable of performing encoding and decoding a data stream or signal. In English, that means that a codec is a thing you install on your computer to allow you to watch certain types of videos. This means there are lots of different codecs for all the different formats of movies out there. What makes a codec sexy is its ability to produce an ever increasing quality video with a smaller file size. (Otherwise known as video compression)

Fairly recently, a new standard in video compression called H.264 has been developed. It uses the .mp4 extension. It is now a very popular choice with the iPhone, iPod and other mobile devices. I compressed a 1 minute of 720p video (originally 68MB) down to 8.4MB (settings of 640×480 at 30fps,and 40kHz aac audio) and the quality was fantastic. H.264 is my new best friend. I will post some video here soon. I recommend using Quicktime or Media Player Classic (part of the K-Lite Codec Package) to watch H.264 video as opposed to other video players like VLC. (The way VLC Player works is different without the normal codecs, and in the case of H.264 files I have viewed, the images are [unfortunately] significantly darker and less visible.
