Jude. Day 3!

Hi everyone -
Jude is now two and a half days old! Seems as though yesterday he didn’t eat as well as he should have. He didnt sleep much at all last night. Thank God he slept almost four hours early this afternoon. Tal and Andrew came by to visit and I think Jude was a hit with them. Here are some pics from today.

here we are, all smiling. How nice.

Jude LOVED the bath. imagine that!

He finally slept, “like a baby”.

I quite enjoy feeding Jude. Today, I gave him some MD. (water + sugars to supplement moma’s milk)

Andy and his nephew.

Jude already loves Tal.

after a bribe, I managed to get Andy to hold him!

Visit Updates

Harriet is feeling a lot better, and from tomorrow will take some visitors in the afternoon between 4 and 8pm. Give me a call if you’d like to come. We are at Morges Hospital so its about a 25mns drive from Nyon. (map)

Jude doesn’t like sleeping in his cot like he did the first night. He only seems to get any rest on moms or my chest, and then its only for max 1 hour at a time. (Marie Claire of Morges hospital is a STAR… she held him for 2 hours straight last night to help him sleep, while Harriet was resting!!) He is feeding and pooing like a champ. Mom doesn’t quite have the quality milk to satisfy his needs so occasionally we give him 5-12ml of water through a syringe while he sucks on our pinky finger. His temp at 11:30pm tonight was 37.3 C heart rate 130 and 50 breaths per minute. Weight at around 4pm was still 3810g although that was with clothes on before his feed.

A healthy baby!

Jude. Day 2

Today has been an exciting day. Jude slept for all morning except for a few feeds and then chose to spend the entire afternoon with us, awake. He has a definite personality, and I like him already. He is wearing gloves in some of the pictures because his finger nails are so developed! (possibly even more than dads!!!) Harriet is also on the mend and even took a walk around part of the Morges maternity ward. Here are my favorite photos from today. X

Mom and baby day 1

Mom and baby seem to be very happy together! (A good thing too!) Jude responds to both our voices which is really amazing, and so far, we are still in the clouds. This is surreal.

She’s gorgeous! You can’t even tell she went through an 8 hour delivery.

Jude’s private suite (He loves it)

Jude is the talk of all the midwives in the hospital!

The delivery wasn’t easy though…

Updates for interested friends

Hi everyone. Harriet is resting, albeit very uncomfortably. The
c-section has (obviously) meant a lot of pain, and unfortunately, the
drugs they are giving her aren’t v effective in killing the pain.

Anyone who wishes to visit, please wait until I post that its ok to
come, most probably wednesday afternoon.

More tweets to follow. S

Jude is here

Before I crash in bed, I have to tell you that Jude Capron Kibbe has arrived!
My wife was an absolute star and she really did it. But Jude stole the show. He is simply gorgeous. Really.

More soon.

Its not every day you become a father - i was pretty emotional. Mom was in the operating theatre, and we wanted the skin to skin contact with him asap so I was the first one available!

Week 40 is almost complete

I took Harriet on a secret date yesterday morning. It got up to 20 degrees, so it was the pefect time to go out by the lake and enjoy yummy food. This sort of thing is a dream for Harriet.
Her term is tomorrow and this baby will be here soon, so I take this opportunity to post some of the final photos of Harriet pre-mom.

Hospital experience 1 and 2

Well we have been to Morges hospital twice today, but not to deliver! At least now we know where it is, and I’ll be leaving my various bags in the car, just in case… He’s GOT TO come out at some point soon! Am learning patience and that I am really not in control of my life at all… And I certainly won’t be once he’s out, from what other mothers have told me ;)
So looking forward to meeting the little guy, and introducing him to all of u. Knowing Stuart photos will be up on the site pretty much in real time! :) I mustn’t forget my make up …

False alarms! Maybe!

We went to the hospital this afternoon, thinking Harriet’s waters had broken. The doctors arent sure, so now we r waiting for the almighty doctor to give us the nod to stay, or send us home! At least we got to enjoy the sun this morning!!

Just waiting…

I am writing again! Second time in a year! I am in my 39th week now and we are really just waiting for baby to come out… the sooner the better according to Mom, that’s for sure!

So now I know what it is like to be heavy and in pretty much constant pain - it’s either the back, or the pelvic area or contractions … and we welcome the contractions, let me tell you! I have been allowed to do housework and all sorts of things, which is great, and I am doing my best to get the message to baby that now is the time! I am so looking forward to meeting him :)

I am not doing a great deal at the moment: organising the house, cooking, cleaning, baking, as much as my back will allow me to. I’ve also been able to catch up with other preggies, and spend time sleeping, which is, after all, one of my favourite activities, and that which i will soon have to give up, n’est ce pas??

Our small group have been great and so supportive, I have to thank them publicly, THANK YOU! They have all given advice, prayer and gifts/loans that we very much appreciate and treasure. As much as I love them I really hope not to be able to see them for a couple of weeks as I really really hope to be in hospital!

My parents arrive Sunday night, which will be great! A big load off my shoulders as Mum will take over the running of the house :) Thank you Mummy!

Right I have some cooking to attend to - Hopefully the next time I write will be to say that I have a beautiful baby boy to show you all!

hip hop preacher? not really.

On Sunday night, I gave my first talk in front of the ICF Genève crowd. It was a lot of fun. Matthias translated into French and we connected very well on stage which made for an entertaining evening. Here’s a link to the video.

Week 38

Thought I’d share some of our experiences from this past week. The belly is massive, and, personally, I think this week will be “the” week. Update for sure.

In the meanwhile…

Joseph spent two weeks with us in Gland while he retook exams to get into the school of translation and interpretation.

This is what awaits me… man.

We are making time to enjoy our “freedom”, talking, and watching movies. Most recently, Harriet has gotten me to watch the 1964 My Fair Lady. Its great!

We visited Talya and Andrew before they went back to school for the start of summer term. The baby was making himself known! Talya likened his movements to a giant worm.

Our garden is absolutely gorgeous. All the investment by the previous renters has paid off.. and we are enjoying it!

And finally, as part of an illustration for my first sermon at ICF Genève, I got to put on this “robe of righteousness”. Lovely.

More pics, week 37

Harriet has now passed into week 38 so, the baby can come out when he’s ready, as far as I am concerned. In the meanwhile, I’ll take advantage of posting pics of my smokin’ hot wife.
