Milestones for Jude!

Well, at least I think they are milestones… in terms of communication. I’m going to bullet-point them so I don’t forget them all. They are all from today, isn’t he smart??!

1. Jude has FINALLY realised that sometimes he can’t do something and he has to ask for help. I have been trying to get him to say the word ‘help’ or whatever variation he would choose, for what seems like AGES! Today he couldn’t open a bag that he knew contained a certain toy, and he called out ‘Mum… Dodo! (name of the toy)’, and he did so many times, while he lufted the bag and brought it to me so I could assist him in getting Dodo out of the bag :)

2. He has now said both ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ of his own accord, without prompting and at the right time! Today he wanted to get down after his meal, and he said ‘Down! Down! ppprrrrhhhheeeez? pphrrreeez?’ … i think that’s what it sounded liek anyway…

3. He came up to me as I was preparing dinner, whining and whimpering, and when i loked down, he was holding a plate out to me, saying ‘prrate! prraaate!mum, mum prrate!’ Amazing! He was telling me he was hungry! I already knew that of course, and was trying to cook something tasty up in a jiffy (he doesn’t eat plain food, thank you very much… it has to be complex in terms of flavours and if it’s not, it’s got to be cheese!)

4. Jude at one point during dinner decided to flap one hand towards me, I thought he was trying to hit me, or pretending to (it’s an ongoing thing at the moment) and I scolded him i said, ‘ no Jude we don’t hit, you do not hit mummy’. He looked down, and frowned and then he looked at his hand and lifted it up again and said ‘Five! five!’ … he wanted to give me a high five!!!! So i had to apologise…

5. Last but not least, his latest song is the ABC song, and because he recognises all the letters of the alphabet and knows them now, he is learning the song pretty well. He knows how to get his toy to play the song, so he pushes the button however many times and waits for the song to start, he bobbs his head from side to side and every now and then says ‘A’ or ‘G’, or ‘P’, or ‘V’, as the song progresses (and at the right spots too) then he goes on with ‘now…. nek…. ME!’ HE IS SO CUTE!!!

So Stuart insisted that I share all these small incidents of te day with whoever reads our blog, I hope I haven’t bored you, but it is such an amazing thing to watch him discover and master skills, and he will never again be the little baby he was yesterday… He’s nearly 2 now!

You forgot a very important thing! He called out my name, and pronounced it with an English accent!!!
But I’m wondering, is he learning Japanese on the side, to say things like “PRRREaase!”? :)
